I am Rena Brooks and Authentic Woman is my blog. I am a mother, grandmother, a former middle school teacher, a freelance writer, and now a blogger.
I was raised in a small rural community in South Carolina along with nine of my siblings.
I graduated from Lander College in 1985. I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I taught both at the elementary and middle school level for a number of years.
Even though I have been writing for a number of years, I just started blogging last year. English was one of my favorite subjects. Unlike a lot of my classmates, I loved reading, memorizing poems, and writing. I am a writer today because I had some wonderful English teachers in high school and in college.
Now, I choose to write. I write because I want to use my craft to inspire and encourage others.
Recently, I joined Compel, a program that helps aspiring writers. I am proud to have completed Level 101.
